Dr. Peter Walimire is a board-certified podiatric surgeon and a recognized expert in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery in Southwest Florida. He specializes in advanced surgical techniques that allow for smaller incisions, faster recovery, and less postoperative pain—helping patients return to the activities they enjoy as quickly and safely as possible.
Originally from Bucyrus, Ohio, Dr. Walimire earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After spending two years in medical research, he discovered his passion for podiatric medicine and went on to attend the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (now Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine), where he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship. During his training, he demonstrated strong leadership and academic excellence, ultimately earning a position in the highly competitive three-year surgical residency at AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida. There, he served as Chief Resident and performed over 2,500 procedures while mastering advanced reconstructive and minimally invasive techniques.
Since relocating to Southwest Florida in 2010, Dr. Walimire has built a reputation for delivering high-level surgical care with a personalized approach. During his 10 years with Kagan Orthopedic Surgery Group, he served as the only foot and ankle surgeon, performing thousands of procedures and refining his expertise in complex and minimally invasive surgery. He later founded his own practice with a clear mission: to provide cutting-edge, patient-centered care that prioritizes both outcomes and patient experience. His practice focuses heavily on minimally invasive bunion surgery, foot and ankle reconstruction, minimally invasive insertion of peripheral nerve stimulators, and innovative solutions for chronic foot and ankle pain such as neuropathy.
Dr. Walimire is known for combining surgical precision with a thoughtful, individualized approach to care. He takes the time to educate patients on their condition and treatment options, ensuring they feel confident and informed every step of the way.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Walimire’s greatest passion is his family. His wife, Meredith, is an integral part of the practice, serving as a medical assistant. Together, they have two children, Alexander and AnnaLynn, and enjoy traveling and seeking out new adventures. When he’s not in the office or operating room, you’ll often find him fishing with his son or on the golf course continuing his quest to improve his short game.
